Working With GRUNT

Am I a GRUNT employee?

No. GRUNT Drivers operate as independent contractors (1099).

As an independent contractor, you decide when you want to be available and which delivery opportunities you want to accept, subject to GRUNT's platform requirements and Driver Agreement.

Do I have to accept every delivery?

No. You decide which available delivery opportunities you want to accept.

Review the order information before accepting and make sure the delivery works for your vehicle, location, schedule, and ability to safely complete it.

Once you accept a delivery, the customer is counting on you. Complete the delivery safely, communicate clearly, and follow the GRUNT delivery process through proof of delivery.
Are deliveries or earnings guaranteed?

No. GRUNT is an on-demand platform. Available deliveries vary based on customer demand, location, time, vehicle type, and other factors.

How much will I earn?

Earnings vary based on the delivery, distance, vehicle required, and other order details.

Your estimated earnings are displayed before you accept an available delivery, so you can decide whether the order works for you.

Earnings are not guaranteed and depend on available orders and the deliveries you choose to accept.

Do I keep my tips?

Yes. GRUNT Drivers keep 100% of customer tips.

How do I get paid?

Driver earnings are processed through GRUNT's payment system and connected Driver Wallet.

Your completed delivery earnings can be viewed through your GRUNT Driver account. Available payout options are managed through the connected payment system.

Does GRUNT reimburse gas, mileage, or vehicle expenses?

GRUNT Drivers are independent contractors and are generally responsible for their own vehicle-related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, tolls, and other operating costs, subject to the current Driver Agreement.

Should I keep GRUNT notifications turned on?

Yes. If you want to receive available delivery opportunities and important order updates, keep GRUNT notifications enabled and make sure your phone allows the GRUNT app to send notifications.

Accepting & Reviewing Orders

What should I review before accepting an order?

Review all available order information, including:

  • Pickup and delivery locations
  • Requested delivery date and time
  • Vehicle requirements
  • Available material or order information
  • Estimated driver earnings
  • Any special instructions

Only accept an order if you believe you can safely and reliably complete it.

What am I agreeing to when I accept a delivery?

You're agreeing to complete that specific pickup and delivery safely and professionally according to the order information and GRUNT delivery process.

This includes reviewing the order, communicating when necessary, going to the correct pickup location, reasonably verifying the order, safely transporting it, delivering it to the correct location, and completing the required proof of delivery.

What should I do immediately after accepting?

Review the complete order information again before heading to the pickup location.

Pay particular attention to:

  • Customer-provided order information
  • Supplier information
  • Receipt or order confirmation
  • Item descriptions and quantities
  • Photos or screenshots
  • Pickup instructions
  • Contact information
  • Additional customer notes
Don't wait until you're standing at the supplier counter to discover that important information is missing.
What if important order information is missing or unclear?

Message the customer immediately through GRUNT's in-app messaging and clearly explain what information you need.

Give the customer up to 16 minutes to respond. If you cannot get the information needed to safely or properly complete the delivery, do not proceed without guidance.

Don't guess. Contact the customer or GRUNT when something important is unclear.
Can I accept an order requiring a larger vehicle than mine?

No. Only accept deliveries appropriate for your approved vehicle and its safe carrying capacity.

Never overload your vehicle or attempt to transport materials that cannot be safely loaded, contained, and secured.

Can I communicate directly with the customer?

Yes. Use GRUNT's in-app messaging for communication related to the active delivery.

Drivers should communicate when necessary about pickup issues, delays, missing information, unloading assistance, and other circumstances affecting the delivery.

Pickup & Order Verification

What should I check before going to the supplier?

Review the information you'll need to retrieve the order:

  • Customer name
  • Supplier information
  • Confirmation or order number
  • Receipt or screenshots
  • Barcode or QR code when provided
  • Special pickup instructions
  • Contact information
What do I do when I arrive at the supplier?

Follow the supplier's pickup process and identify yourself as the GRUNT Driver picking up the customer's order.

Depending on the supplier, you may need the customer's name, order number, receipt, barcode, QR code, or other order information supplied through GRUNT.

Follow any curbside, counter, warehouse, loading-area, or other pickup instructions provided for the order.

What if the supplier can't find the order or it isn't ready?

Verify that you're at the correct supplier and have the correct customer and order information.

If the supplier cannot locate or release the order, says it isn't ready, requires additional information, or another issue prevents pickup, contact the customer through GRUNT messaging.

Do not guess or make decisions on behalf of the customer.
Am I expected to shop for the customer's materials?

Generally, no. GRUNT is primarily a pickup-and-delivery service. The customer normally places or arranges the order with the supplier, and the GRUNT Driver retrieves and delivers it.

Don't substitute products, change quantities, make purchasing decisions, or pay for merchandise unless the specific GRUNT order process expressly instructs you to do so.

What should I verify before leaving the supplier?

Before leaving, reasonably verify that:

  • The materials appear to match the order information
  • Quantities appear correct when reasonably possible
  • There is no obvious visible damage
  • Required documentation is included
  • Nothing appears obviously incorrect

If something appears missing, incorrect, or damaged, contact the customer before leaving whenever possible.

You are the transporter — not the purchaser. Don't make substitutions or purchasing decisions for the customer.

Loading, Securement & Unloading

Am I responsible for loading the materials?

Ask the supplier for loading assistance when needed, especially with heavier or bulky materials.

Never risk injury or damage by attempting to handle something you cannot safely load.

How much am I expected to lift?

GRUNT Drivers must be able to safely lift and handle individual items weighing up to 60 pounds.

Items that are heavier, bulky, awkward, or reasonably require more than one person may require assistance at pickup or delivery.

Never attempt to lift or move something you cannot safely handle. If an order requires assistance, communicate with the customer before proceeding and confirm that appropriate help will be available.
What if the materials don't fit in my vehicle?

Do not transport an unsafe or oversized load.

If an order doesn't safely fit your vehicle or exceeds its safe carrying capacity, contact the customer and GRUNT for assistance.

Never overload your vehicle or transport materials that cannot be properly secured.

Who is responsible for securing the load?

As the driver transporting the materials, you are responsible for making sure the load is safely secured before driving.

Use appropriate straps, tie-downs, or other securement methods when necessary.

Materials should not be able to shift, fall, become damaged, or create a roadway hazard.

How do I know if I'll need help unloading?

Determine this before leaving for pickup whenever possible.

Consider:

  • The weight of the materials
  • The quantity of materials
  • Bulky or oversized items
  • Items that reasonably require two people
  • Your ability to safely unload the entire order
Never assume someone will be waiting at the jobsite to help you unload.
What if I need someone to help me unload?

Contact the customer through GRUNT messaging and confirm that someone will be available at the delivery location to assist.

If unloading assistance is necessary and you cannot confirm that help will be available, contact GRUNT before proceeding.

Delivery & Jobsite

Should I tell the customer when I'm on the way?

Yes. After pickup, send the customer a short message through GRUNT letting them know you're on the way.

Include an approximate arrival time when appropriate.

Where should I deliver the materials?

Deliver the order to the drop-off location provided in the GRUNT order details.

If the customer requests a different location or gives instructions that conflict with the original order, confirm the change through GRUNT messaging before unloading whenever possible.

What if no one is at the delivery location?

Review the delivery instructions and contact the customer through GRUNT messaging.

Don't leave materials unattended unless doing so is authorized and you can safely leave them at the appropriate location.

Complete all required proof-of-delivery documentation before leaving.

What if I can't safely access the requested delivery location?

Don't put yourself, your vehicle, the materials, or other people at risk.

Contact the customer through GRUNT messaging and determine whether there is a safe alternative delivery location.

If the issue cannot be resolved, contact GRUNT.

What should I do at an active construction site?

Use extra caution. Drive slowly, watch for workers and equipment, follow posted signs and reasonable site instructions, and park only where it is safe.

Don't unnecessarily enter restricted or hazardous work areas. Use appropriate footwear or PPE when required by the jobsite.

Do I have to carry materials wherever the customer asks?

Deliver materials to the designated delivery location when it can be done safely and reasonably.

You're not expected to perform material handling that creates an unreasonable safety risk or to enter unsafe or restricted areas.

If you're unsure, contact the customer through GRUNT messaging before proceeding.

Proof of Delivery

What is proof of delivery?

Proof of delivery documents that the customer's materials were delivered and where they were left.

GRUNT uses proof-of-delivery photos as part of the delivery completion process.

What photos should I take?

Take clear photos that reasonably show:

  • The delivered materials
  • Where the materials were left
  • The general quantity or contents when reasonably visible
  • The apparent condition of the materials
  • Anything important or unusual about the delivery

Follow the GRUNT app instructions for the required final proof-of-delivery photo.

Take your photos before leaving the delivery location.
Why are proof-of-delivery photos important?

They help protect the customer, driver, supplier, and GRUNT by documenting that the delivery was completed, what was delivered, its apparent condition, and where it was left.

Problems, Delays & Emergencies

What should I do if I'm running late?

Communicate with the customer as soon as you know there's a meaningful delay.

Use GRUNT messaging to explain the situation and provide an updated estimated arrival time when possible.

What if materials are damaged or incorrect at pickup?

Don't knowingly leave the supplier with materials that appear incorrect or damaged without first communicating the issue.

Document the problem when appropriate and contact the customer through GRUNT messaging for instructions.

What if something is damaged during transportation?

Safely stop when appropriate, document the issue, and notify GRUNT and the customer promptly.

Don't conceal damage or knowingly complete the delivery without reporting it.

What if I can't complete an accepted delivery?

Contact GRUNT immediately.

Don't simply abandon an accepted order. Explain the situation so the appropriate next step can be determined and disruption to the customer can be minimized.

What should I do if there's an accident or emergency?

Your immediate safety and the safety of others come first. Contact emergency services when necessary.

Once it's safe to do so, notify GRUNT as soon as possible and provide the relevant delivery information.

Don't continue transporting an order if your vehicle, the load, or the situation is no longer safe.

When In Doubt

READ IT. COMMUNICATE.
DELIVER IT. GET SH*T DONE. 💪

Read the order. Ask questions early. Transport it safely. Document the delivery. The customer is counting on you.
